Pompeii Chapter 6: VesuviusIt was a silent night. We were fast asleep without a sound. It had been a very hard day. We caught an adult male deer who nearly stabbed me in the heart with his antlers. In the end, we killed and ate him. We were exhausted. Just to end that peace we were finally getting, some roaring along with screaming came from the road. I lifted my head from the broken yoke I leaned into as a pillow (I slept on top of the monitors beside the glass front window and my head rested on the yoke). I peaked through the window on the left and saw a fire beside the road. I climbed down and went to Hazel and Jedi sleeping in the passenger seats. There had been some weird bodies withering there but our hunger dealt with them on the day we found that plane (about 6 months earlier).
"Guys," I said, "There's a fire near the road!"
"Don't bother it," Jedi said, "You need sleep. We all do."
"Don't you wanna see it?"
"No, and neither should you."
"Come on! It's just a peek! It could be important too."

Pompeii Chapter 5: Akita BrothersJedi looked back to where the others were. Ken was throwing Saru again, and this time, very far. Next thing we knew, Ken was at the edge of the pond with Saru. He jumped in with him, dragging him down. I soon realized what Ken was about to do. I moved forward.
“Let’s leave Bellona,” said Jedi as soon as I went near the water, “We have no more business here.”
“But Jedi,” I started.
“I can’t swim and the pressure would kill you from blood loss. The others are afraid of Ken. Either Saru saves himself, Ifor saves him, or he drowns.”
“His younger brother was basically your father! How can you-”
Just then, I noticed tears running down his face and his sad remaining brown eye. Had he lost one of those amazing eyes for nothing? Ifor was swimming to help his father and could be killed too. Then, all the dogs he wished to free would die.
